Minor Field Studies (MFS)

MFS scholarships

Sida’s MFS scholarship is for Bachelor's and Master's students who would like to collect research material in a developing country for their degree theses. During 8-10  weeks of field studies, the students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in a discipline of their choice.

The scholarship of 27 000 Swedish kronor is intended to cover travel expenses as well as field costs during the stay.

To be eligible for an MFS scholarship you must:

  • study at a university or university college in Sweden
  • have completed at least 150 credits when you start your MFS
  • not have started doctoral (third cycle) level education
  • have good English skills
  • be a Swedish citizen or have permanent residency in Sweden.
