Current Research

Anna Hedlund is a social anthropologist with a research focus on the anthropology of violence in war and post conflict settings. Her PhD research was an in-depth ethnographic study based on fieldwork among armed groups in the eastern Congo (DRC). In her previous research project she conducted fieldwork in Kinshasa and Beirut and researched topics related to violence and corruption.

She is currently working on a research project on violence and crime prevention strategies in Malmö, Sweden, funded by FORTE (2019-2022). The project explores methods to stop gang violence and prevention work in Malmö, Sweden. The research has an interdisciplinary approach and will be of interest to researchers and practitioners working on crime and violence prevention efforts.
