The Department of Sociology is moving house for a year
Information for students at the Department of Sociology regarding the renovation of the Department of Sociology's building "House G".
The Department of Sociology (House G) will be renovated during the period summer 2023 – summer 2024. All teaching will take place in other premises on Campus Paradis during that period.
The aim of the Campus Paradis building project is to create common, fit-for-purpose, and attractive premises for studying, teaching, research and library services at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The Department of Sociology will move to temporary premises for a year
During the renovation the Department of Sociology will move to temporary premises in Allhelgonaskolan on Bredgatan 26.
From the summer of 2023 to the summer of 2024 the Department of Sociology's building (House G) will undergo an extensive renovation. The ventilation system is already on the verge of being undersized and the data network needs to be replaced. Also House G will undergo the necessary changes to accommodate additional workplaces.
All teaching will take place in other premises on Campus Paradis and the Department's staff will move to the nearby Allhelgonaskolan at Bredgatan 26. We are very happy to be able to continue to offer our students teaching "close to home" on Campus Paradis.
After a year, when the renovation is finished, we will move back to House G and will then share the building with the Department of Gender Studies. We look forward to an even more vibrant and lively environment in the building.
Teaching during the renovation period
No teaching can take place in the Department of Sociology's temporary building (Allhelgonaskolan) during the renovation period (summer 2023 to summer 2024).
Teaching will take place in other premises on Campus Paradis.
You will be able to see which premises/rooms apply to your courses via your schedule in TimeEdit when the schedules are published (around the 10 June).
Study spaces and group study rooms during the renovation period
For study spaces and group study rooms, we recommend those available within Campus Paradis. The following premises are open during the day on weekdays during term time.

Book an appointment to meet teachers, study advisers and the student office during the renovation period
Do you want to meet us for supervision, study guidance or other help?
During the year that the Department's staff are in our temporary building (at Allhelgonaskolan), it will be more difficult to visit teachers, study advisers and the student office staff unfortunately.
In the temporary building our staff do not have their own rooms.
Before visiting us you therefore need to make an appointment with your teacher, study adviser, the student office or other person, in most cases via email.
Student associations (Doxa, PiL, KUF, BiL) during the renovation period
During the renovation period the student associations' room in House G will not be available. A room in another building will be made available. Although no teaching will take place in the Allhelgonaskolan, there will be opportunities for the student associations to have certain types of activities there. More information will be available from your student association in the future.
