Current Research
My research is done at the intersections of the sociology of work and cultural sociology. I defended my dissertation in 2024 which set out to understand how creative work is reshaped by the growth of the gig economy centered around digital platforms. I am interested in the reasons and motivations for seeking out insecure and precarious freelance work, and how creative workers utilize digital platforms to navigate a highly competitive labor market. I use qualitative methods such as interviews and digital ethnography. Theoretically I’m interested in questions of power, subjectivity and precarization in today’s labor markets.
