Entry requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in social anthopology or equivalent. English Level 6 (equivalent to IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90). See for details on English proficiency levels.

How to apply

1. Apply online:

Go to Click on “Apply” and follow the instructions for the online application at, the Swedish national application website. Rank the chosen programmes in order of preference.

2. Submit your supporting documents:

General supporting documents: Check what documents you need to submit (i.e. of cial transcripts, degree diploma/proof of expected graduation, translations, proof of English, passport) and how you need to submit them at

Programme-specific supporting documents: When applying for the MSc in Social Anthropology you also need to submit a statement of purpose (around one page) with your application.

3. Pay the application fee (when applicable).

Requirements and selection criteria


To be eligible for the programme a Bachelor’s degree is required that includes at least 90 credits or equivalent of studies in Social Anthropology or the equivalent.

A good command of English language both spoken and written, equivalent to English 6/B (advanced) proficiency in the Swedish secondary system, is required. Equivalence assessments will be made according to national guidelines.

Selection method

The selection is based on academic qualifications. The applicants estimated capacity to complete the programme is the primary criterion for selection. Students who fulfill the special eligibility requirements are selected on the basis of their previous study results (grades on courses and Bachelor’s degree essay), proficiency in English and letter of intent.

Tuition fees

There are no tuition fees for EU/EEA citizens. For non-EU/ EEA citizens the tuition fee for this programme is SEK 100 000 per year. For details, see
