How to conduct your sabbatical with Lund University Department of Sociology

Looking for a vibrant department in which to spend your sabbatical?
Our department is rich in the disciplines of gender studies, social-anthropology and sociology with lively research environments close to cultural sociology, criminology, family sociology, the sociology of science and technology, and many others. Our methodological traditions are diverse, with a rich tradition in ethnography and qualitative methods as well as pracitioners of quantitative and computational social sciences methods. We are a large department with education offered at all levels from bachelor to PhD, and we have regular and diverse seminars and discussion fora where you could take part in discussions and also present your own work.
Your own office space and an excellent library system
Our sabbatical guests receive office space, integration into our department’s academic and social life, as well as a local email address. Lund University has an excellent library system, which consists of a network of subject based libraries and among them a special Social Sciences Faculty Library, located in the social sciences campus area. Guests will receive a library card to use for borrowing printed books and a digital identity that will allow access to a wide collection of databases, electronic journals, and e-books.
The possible sabbatical duration is from 2 to 12 months.
How to apply:
Due to limited resources, applicants must have an established contact at the department who is willing to act as a host during the visit.

- The duration of your stay
- How your work connects with the research or activities at our department
If you are a PhD candidate or a researcher with a higher academic qualification, we invite you to apply instead as a guest researcher or visiting scholar.
