Current Research:
My research focuses on step-relations, so-called “bonus-relationships”, between bonus-grandparents and bonus-grandchildren. The research departs from interviews with children (age 5-19) and elderly (age 65-75). When people of all ages meet new partners, it creates complex family relationships in several stages. For the people I have interviewed, the bonus relationships often arise as a result of separations and re-partnering. However, also chosen relationships are included such as e.g. informants who are a bonus-grandparent for someone without older relatives in Sweden, and, e.g. grandchildren who have the sister of their grandmother as a bonus-grandparent.
I am part of the project "Intergenerational care in Sweden. A study of relationsips, commitments, and practices of care in everyday family life" (VR 2018-01053, together with Sara Eldén and Terese Anving). The project analyzes stories of care between grandchildren, grandparents, and their adult children.
