Hetzler as one of the main speakers on Symposium on Bullying

Antoinette Hetzler is invited as one of the main speakers to the third International Symposium on Bullying that will be held in Tokyo Japan, December 4, 2016.

Antoinette Hetzler will, together with Mitsuru Taki (NIER), discuss issues of bullying in less violent crime societies.

Results are from a longitudinal comparative survey (2013-2015) between Sweden and Japan. Both countries are described as countries with ”less criminal violence” in an international perspective. Hetzler and Taki show that in both countries  ”bullying with violence” is less and ”bullying without violence” is more than in other countries. However, the type of bullying engaged generally by all students differs between Sweden and Japan.

Differences in bullying and abusive behaviour as well as pro-active and effective measures against bullying and abusive behaviour in school are the subject of a closing panel discussion between researchers from USA and Australia together with Hetzler and Taki.

About the symposium

The symposium is held once every ten years and is sponsored by the Japanese National Institute for Educational Policy Research (NIER) together with Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and represents Japan’s ongoing reserach since 1996 on youth and children’s problematic behaviors including the issue of bullying.
